Mission Made Possible: How Rightsizing with Cardinal Solutions Made for a Smooth Move

Owning two properties—one in Baton Rouge and another in St. Francisville—Dr. David Bunch faced quite a challenge before arriving at St. James Place. Between his two residences, there were plenty of personal and household items to sort through, and with his limited mobility further complicating matters, Dr. Bunch realized he needed to call in the experts.

Enter Cardinal Solutions.

Professional, Pleasant, Perfect

Before moving to St. James Place, Dr. Bunch knew one thing: He dreaded downsizing and rightsizing. After moving, he knew one more: From start to finish, Cardinal Solutions made everything easier.

Cardinal Solutions—a fixture in the Baton Rouge area—is a women-owned small business that organizes, oversees and manages the ever-challenging senior moving process.

As he considered connecting with Cardinal Solutions via St. James Place, Dr. Bunch affectionately recalls that his wife orchestrated everything in previous moves. However, since her passing and with his severe back issues to consider, he decided utilizing Cardinal’s services would be the best course of action.

“Over two weeks, two Cardinal employees triaged my condo in Baton Rouge,” he explains. “They spent several hours a day helping me figure out which things to donate, move or throw away. And over that time, we sorted through virtually every article in my home.”

He elaborates more on the process with Cardinal employees—noting their efficiency, professionalism and friendliness.

“They made up a floor plan to see how my furniture was arranged and what pictures were on my walls before the move,” he says. “They took photos of everything. Over the last several days of the process, Cardinal arranged to move most of the furniture to my home at St. James.”

What he found upon his arrival only made him feel more comfortable, “if that’s possible,” he chuckles. “My wife was quite an interior decorator in her own right. Everything was already in place when the final items were picked up, and I came over to St. James. Pictures hung on the wall; everything was neatly folded. They already set up the furniture. I did almost nothing.

“You know how there’s that time after a move where you don’t know where anything is? That wasn’t the case here.”

A Smooth Move to St. James Place

When Dr. Bunch looks back on his decision to move to St. James Place, he says it was not a difficult choice. Rightsizing and downsizing weren’t as complicated as they initially seemed, and moving forward at St. James Place felt like a natural transition.

“After my wife passed, I lived alone in the condo for a little over two years and had limited contact with people,” Dr. Bunch says. “My personality just wasn’t amenable to that. I always thought this would be a good move for me because of the socialization aspects, and there’s no lack of opportunities for finding an activity you like.”

After more than two years at St. James Place, Dr. Bunch says he has more than he needs and even offers advice to those considering a move to a senior living community.

“I have great friends here. This place is exactly right for me,” he says. “Move while you’re young enough to enjoy the activities here, and if you can work with people from Cardinal Solutions, do it.”
